Needs and Problems of the AI Researchers

 Dear AI researcher,

Previous qualitative research with European PhD students revealed some challenges in AI field that were not verbalized yet. The purpose of this study and questionnaire is to ascertain the severity of these problems for PhD students but also the research community at large, to start a scientific discussion, as well as to work on the solutions on the new European AI-on-demand Platform (https://aiod.eu/). By answering this questionnaire, you will give us a better overview of the needs and challenges from the perspective of the researcher herself/himself.

Besides the problems, we are also interested in the AI research process itself. This questionnaire might take up to 10 minutes, but the possible solutions can help the research process in AI to be more satisfactory.

At the end of the survey, we will give you the possibility to be more involved in the future development of the AI-on-Demand platform and shape its development through working groups. For this purpose, we will ask you, if you are interested, to fill in your email address. Note that this is the only personal data that we may collect, that it is entirely optional and voluntary, and that it will be used solely for the purpose of contacting you to organize such working groups. As such, your consent is the legal basis for the processing of your personal data (Art. 6(1)(a) of the GDPR). At no point will this personal data be used in relation to your other answers, nor shared with parties outside the AI4Europe project (https://ai4europe.aiod.eu/).

All other collected data will be used only for research purposes. Articles based on the collected data may be published. Articles may contain quotes from participants. The involved partners will ensure that said quote remain anonymous and cannot be traced back to the participant.

All collected data will be stored on Örebro University's servers for a duration of 10 years and deleted afterward. The data controller is Örebro University, located at Fakultetsgatan 1, Örebro, Sweden. You can find out what has been registered about you or have feedback on the processing or information collected by contacting jennifer.renoux@oru.se.
